5 THINGS TO DO EVERYDAY TO MAKE YOU HAPPY

It’s kinda crazy how much we get into our own heads, and allow ourselves to be talked out of our goals and plans internally. This time of the year is so exciting – everyone is actually excited to get into a routine, to clean out their system of all the junk and alcohol from the Holidays, catch up on sleep, not have holiday parties or get togethers all the time. We can finally chill for a minute and focus on us. Until February rolls around.

The fact that 80% of us fail to follow through on our resolutions every year by February is AWFUL. It’s hard in our society to focus on and prioritize yourself, your self-care, your self-love, YOU. We might be worried that it could be viewed as selfish or that we might be judged for it – but the reality? You WILL be a better person, for you, for your spouse, for your kids, for your co-workers, for everyone – if you’re actually taking care of yourself and filling your cup everyday with things that make you happy. I want you to start understanding and really believing that NOT taking care of yourself is what’s selfish. Who are you to not give your family and your friends the best version of you!? They need THAT you, not the one who is overwhelmed, stressed, anxious and miserable. More importantly, YOU need that you.

So how can you get there? How can you get out of the slump? How can you make sure that you aren’t part of that February statistic? It’s going to be a little different for everyone, but for the most part – it’s the same. Number one – stop making resolutions. Here are some things you have to start prioritizing, every.single.day. – ready?

  1. Move your body for at least 20 minutes – NO MATTER WHAT
  2. Drink 1/2 your body weight in ounces of water
  3. Practice gratitude and be intentional (here’s what I started using and LOVE it)
  4. Eat a shit-ton of veggies. Seriously, a lot.
  5. Read/do personal development for at least 20 minutes a day – I just finished Girl, Wash Your Face and have now started The Slight Edge

Stop thinking, I don’t have time for this. I have 2 jobs and 3 kids, no nanny (aside from help a couple days a week from my amazing Dad). I lost 42 pounds over the last 6 months and have done a complete 180 with my mindset and attitude about life. I started my own business, I have 32984273987 things to do everyday, but if I don’t do these things I listed above? I don’t do any of it – or at least not well. So STOP making excuses, stop convincing yourself you can’t, or your not worth it, or you don’t have time – you CAN, and you NEED to. Now. Stop wasting time. Stop being unhappy. Decide on your goals, make a plan, make the right choices EVERYDAY to get to your goals, and wake up one day wondering why you waited so long. K?

xoxo
